Services celebrating the life of Evelyn Herd will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Coweta Assembly of God in Coweta, OK. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Viewing will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Francis Evelyn Herd, of Coweta, was born December 30, 1922, and passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the age of 95. She was born to parents, Isaac Marion Young and Maude Ella (Vaughn) Young. The family moved to Coweta from Spiro, Oklahoma, in 1928, when she was six years old. She was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. One of her favorite past-times was playing Uno with the grandkids and putting puzzles together. She was married to Ebby Justin Herd on July 26, 1941. From this union was born two children, Barbara Ruth (Herd) Hash and Donald Dwight Herd, both of Coweta. She raised her family in the Old Mission Church of Coweta. In her latter years she attended Lighthouse Tabernacle in Coweta, South Mission Holiness Church in Broken Arrow, and North Heights Holiness Church in Sapulpa. Church was her life, and she loved to sing and worship. In her later life, she received three trophies for each year of perfect attendance. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ebby, of 49 years; one granddaughter, LaDonna (Herd) Foster; her sisters, Hazel Holmes, Cledith York, Edith York, Ella Curtis, and JoAnn Banning; her brothers, Robert Young and Willard Holmes. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hash and husband Arley "Pete", of Coweta; her son, Dwight Herd and wife Donna, of Coweta; five grandchildren, Doug Hash and wife Rhonda, of Bixby; Shelly Kelley and husband Dennis, of Porter; Donald Herd and wife Christy, of Wagoner; Greg Hash, of Coweta; Kenny Herd of Coweta; eleven great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lois Clark and husband Jesse, of Broken Arrow; Pauline Norman and husband Dale, of Broken Arrow; Janice Bart and husband Paul, of Greenbriar, Arkansas; her brother, Fred Young and wife Verna, of Tulsa, and a host of nieces and nephews.
