Ernie Gilbert

Ernie Lee Gilbert, long-time resident of Coweta, passed away on Thursday morning, June 2, 2011 at his residence in Coweta at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 20 days. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather to his family. Ernie was born on November 13, 1941 in Oneta, OK to John Allen and Eliza T. (Wise) Gilbert. He received his education in the Broken Arrow Public Schools. Ernie was a truck driver for Alliance Trucking for 33 years. He and Linda J. Runnels were married on December 31, 1991 in Eureka Springs, AR. Ernie was a member of the Coweta Assembly of God. He enjoyed reading and restoring old tractors and cars. Ernie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ernie is lovingly survived by his wife, Linda of the home; his son, Scott Gilbert of Haskell, OK; his sister, Barbara Hughes of Coweta; four grandchildren, Kaylee, Kimber, Kristen and Karson; three step-children, Marvin Jr., Ricky and Joyce; and other relatives and friends. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Ernie will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Coweta Assembly of God with Pastor Steve Lee officiating and Pastor Jay Dixon assisting. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta.
