Emmalee Mcquiston

Emmalea McQuiston of Coweta passed away on Friday morning, February 16, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 79 years, 9 months, and 4 days old. Emmalea was born on May 12, 1927 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Juddie Lee and Flora (Hendrix) Denton. She received her education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School in 1945. She also attended Northeastern State University for one year. On August 9, 1948, she and Robert K. McQuiston were united in marriage in Inglewood, California. Emmalea was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coweta. She was also a member of a card club, the Coweta Library Board, and the United Methodist Women's Group. Her hobbies included playing cards, painting, and she was an avid reader. Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Chesbro of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Lee Roy Denton and Jack Denton, both of Coweta; one sister, Irene Jones of Coweta; two grandchildren, Heather Chesbro and Jessica Lea Chesbro; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Coweta with Reverend Allen Carson officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta. Pallbearers were Larry Calkins, Dwain Denton, Jimmy Denton, Larry Denton, Ronnie Denton, Chad Mathias, and George Beams.
