Elverta Eveland Griffin, age 94, resident of Coweta, was born on February 18, 1928 in Wink, Texas and was the daughter of Harold Nevlin Metcalf and Edna Mae (Ansel) Spitzig. Elverta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas morning, December 25, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Elverta ran a restaurant on Lake Eucha and worked various other jobs throughout her life. She enjoyed painting, drawing, sewing, reading, and she loved collecting antique furniture. Elverta attended Our Finest Hour Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Elverta is survived by her children, Iola Griffin of Coweta, Oklahoma, David Griffin and wife Angie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Evette Young and husband Tom of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Clayborne Perrin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elverta was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Elmer Griffin and Kenneth Perrin; her parents, Robert “Curly” Spitzig, Edna Spitzig, and Harold Metcalf; her son, Lloyd Griffin; an infant daughter; her sisters, Phyllis (Metcalf) Sims, RoEtta Heldenbrand, and Carol Metcalf, and her brothers, Harold Metcalf, Jr. and Carl Metcalf.
A memorial service celebrating Elverta’s life will be at 1:30 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Our Finest Hour Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
