Ellis A. Creek, age 92, of Haskell passed from this life on Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home. He was born on June 18, 1917 in Broken Arrow, OK to Everett Lewis and Edna (Holmes) Creek. Ellis received his education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School in 1936. He enlisted in the Army/Air Force on January 28, 1944 and was honorably discharged on May 3, 1946 after serving two years in World War II. He and Fay Wilson were united in marriage on July 6, 1938 in Porter, OK. Ellis worked on farms and clerked in stores while growing up, later becoming a farm truck, tractor, and implement mechanic. He was a used car dealer for several years and was also a licensed and bonded real estate broker and an independent oil and gas operator. Ellis was a founding member of First Assembly of God. He was also a member of the American Legion where he served as Post Commander, V.F.W., National Rifle Association, and the Steam Automobile Club of America. Ellis' hobbies included genealogy and reading. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, and one granddaughter. Ellis is lovingly survived by one son, Ellis "Sonny" Creek and his wife, Florene, of Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Cherry Kuebler and her husband, Denny, of Coweta, OK and Barbara Lynch and her husband, Walter, of Haskell, OK; one sister, Cleo Smith of Coweta, OK; 9 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at First Assembly of God with Pastor Gary Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
