Edward "Ed" Lee Dill

November 2, 1942 — December 28, 2023

Coweta

Edward Lee Dill, known lovingly as Ed to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma. His life began on November 2, 1942, in the same close-knit community he would cherish and contribute to throughout his 81 years.

Above all else, the desire of Ed’s heart was to serve the Lord. He surrendered his life to Christ at a young age and was an active member and faithful servant at Lone Star Baptist Church. He found joy in teaching about the Bible, serving others, and sharing the love of Jesus.

Ed received his early education at Lone Star school and graduated from Coweta High School in the Class of 1960.  He served his country with honor in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma. He may have worked at several jobs, but his life’s work was farming.  Ed spent his days as a sharecropper, growing soybeans, wheat, and hay. His hard work and dedication to farming were paralleled only by his commitment to his faith and his family.

On February 27th of 1971, he married the love of his life, Patsy (Bradshaw) Dill, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They built their home and raised their family on the land that he loved. Ed's heart was ever at home, where he was a devoted family man. He took great joy spending time with family and friends while pheasant and quail hunting, fishing, or simply being outdoors.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Dill of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; his cherished children, Cindy Lakey, Debbie Bell and husband Shawn, and John Dill and wife Kristen, all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren - Cory David Lakey Jr., Andrea Lakey, Daniel Dill, Chase Dill, and Hunter Bell Neal and husband Joe. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Dill and wife Anita of Coweta, Oklahoma, his sister, Ruby Wilkinson of Edmond, Oklahoma, his sister-in-law, Barbara Dill of Coweta, Oklahoma, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, David Joseph and Hermy Alma Dill, his brother, Paul Dill, and his sister, Naomi Masterson.

In lieu of flowers, Ed would have preferred contributions to support missions through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Contributions can be made at their website (imb.org).
