Edgar Gilbert

Edgar Gilbert, age 88, longtime resident of Coweta, OK passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, OK. Edgar was born in Porter, OK on September 22, 1926 to Tom and Tealy (Snelson) Gilbert. He is survived by his son, Jerry Gilbert and wife, Elvie, of Coweta, OK; his daughter, Bonnie Parkerson and husband, Benny, of Coweta, OK; 1 brother, George Gilbert and wife, Thelma; 1 sister, Lucille Satterfield; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Edgar and his son had the DX Service Station in Coweta for 26 years where he loved to work. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene (Battenfield) Gilbert of 67 years, his parents, Tom and Tealy Gilbert, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 granddaughter. He loved to tease and play jokes on his family who loved him very much. He will be greatly missed. Viewing will be from 1 PM - 8 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral services celebrating Edgar's life will be at 10 AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at New Home Freewill Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Brian Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Barry Parkerson, Brady Parkerson, Aaron Failes, Korey Slape, Joe Slape and Kent Blair. Honorary Pallbearers are T.J.
