Dwain Cecil Gay

Dwain Cecil Gay, age 75, longtime Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday evening, January 30, 2023 at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Dwain was born on February 9, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Cecil Harold and Ruth Evelyn (Snelson) Gay.  He was a 1965 graduate of Coweta High School.  After graduating, he joined the United States Army, serving from 1966 to 1968.  Dwain married the love of his life, Eva Ruth Miller on August 7, 1965 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma.  He worked at O’Reilly Auto Parts as a wholesale parts specialist for 20 years until he retired in 2015.  Dwain enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting knives, leatherwork, camping, being outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Dwain is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eva Ruth Gay of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; two sons, Charles Dwight Gay and wife Elva of Coweta, Oklahoma and Robert Douglas Gay and wife Sandra of Coweta, Oklahoma; one daughter, Charlene Denise Gay-Johnson of Coweta, Oklahoma; one sister, Kathy Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Chris Gay, Courtney Brown, Drew Satterfield, Roscoe Gay, Alayna Johnson, Leah Johnson, Daxton Gay, and Jackson Haley; five great grandchildren, Anya, Dominic, Corvin, Corinne, and Hadley; one great granddaughter on the way, Adeline; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Harold and Ruth Evelyn Gay and his son, Dwain Cecil Gay, Jr.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Services celebrating Dwain’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Gary Leach officiating.  Dwain will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma with military honors.

Pallbearers are Chris Gay, Drew Satterfield, Roscoe Gay, Daxton Gay, Chebon Miller, and Dr. Carl Miller, Jr.
