Dorothy Sutton

Dorothy May Sutton, long-time resident of Broken Arrow, age 91, a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, March 6, 2012 at her home in Broken Arrow, OK with her family members at her bedside. Dorothy was born on February 3, 1921 in Coweta, OK and was the daughter of David Henry and Mary Jane (Raybourn) Williams. On May 17, 1946, Dorothy and Lewis Leon Sutton were married in Coweta and they spent nearly 37 years together before he preceded her in death on December 31, 1983. Dorothy was a homemaker for most of her life. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, picking pecans, flowers, quilting, fishing, raising chickens, family get togethers, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy is lovingly survived by her five children, Frank Gray of Glenpool, Elzie Gray of Wagoner, Jan Martin of Broken Arrow, Mildred Ramsey of Broken Arrow, and Bob Sutton of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Rose Shirley of Broken Arrow and Myrna Brown of Catoosa; five brothers, Cecil Williams of Broken Arrow, Guymon Williams of Claremore, Roger Williams of Fanshawe, OK, Ronald Williams of Broken Arrow, and Rowdy Williams of Broken Arrow; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, David Henry and Mary Jane Williams, her husband, Lewis Leon Sutton, one brother, and one sister. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 8, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK with Frank Gray II officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are John Sutton, Ron Ramsey, Jason Tucker, Scott Hawkins, Steve Sturgeon, and Bob Sutton. Honorary Pallbearers are Cecil Williams, Guymon Williams, Roger Williams, Ronald Williams, and Rowdy Williams. Family and friends may sign the guest book on-line @ www.wrightbrownfunerals.com.
