Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Mae Smith, resident of Broken Arrow, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 5 days. Dorothy was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Dorothy was born on July 2, 1926 in Osage, AR and was the daughter of Winfield and Roma (Bell) Morris. She grew up in Arkansas and received her education in Dog Branch, AR. Dorothy and Ray Smith were married on October 19, 1942 in Berryville, AR. She worked at Sears in sales for 20 years until she retired in 1990. Dorothy was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Coweta. She dearly enjoyed reading, shopping, gardening and she especially loved her grandchildren. Dorothy is lovingly survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Ray Smith of the home; her children, Barbara Hathcoat and her husband, Gene, of Coweta, Ina Hall of Bartlesville, Wanda Thornburg and her husband, Roger, of Coweta, Kathy Daniels and her husband, Gary, of Coweta, Jack Smith and his wife, Patsy, of Overland Park, KS and Randy Smith and his wife, Jennifer, of Broken Arrow; one brother, Dunnard Morris of Chandler, AZ; 21 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Winfield and Roma Morris, two sisters, Thelma Bell and Millie Faye, four brothers, Clifford, Troy, Glenn and Dean Morris and one granddaughter, Tracy. Family will be present at a visitation on Thursday evening, August 11, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Church of God Holiness in Coweta with Rev. Joe Partain and Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Jack Smith, Randy Smith, Gene Hathcoat, Gary Daniels, Tony Hall and Joshua Hall. Honorary Pallbearers are Brian Daniels, Scott Smith, Chuck Hathcoat and Randall Smith. Family and friends may sign the guest book on-line @ www.wrightfh.net.
