Dorothy V. Clayton

Dorothy V. Clayton, age 80, lifelong Coweta resident passed away on Wednesday morning, July 8, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Dorothy was born on June 27, 1935 to Dewey Ed and Rosa Ann (Bates) Swarer in Coweta, OK. She received her education in Lonestar and Coweta Schools. Dorothy and Cecil Thomas Clayton were married in November 1952 in Tulsa, OK. She worked at AJAX Die Casting for 25 years and also worked at St. Francis Hospital as a housekeeper. She enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking and working crossword puzzles. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas Clayton, Sr., her parents, Dewey Ed and Rosa Ann Swarer, 2 brothers, Dewey Dale Swarer and Lonnie L. Swarer, Sr. and 1 sister, Minnie Louise Watkins. Dorothy is survived by 7 children, Cecilia Arnold and husband, Bill, of Coweta, OK, Cecil "Tommy" Clayton, Jr. and wife, Paula, of Coweta, OK, Deborah Henry and husband, Terry, of Broken Arrow, OK, June Henderson of Tulsa, OK, Ricky Clayton and wife, Julie, of Kellyville, OK, Billy Clayton of Broken Arrow, OK and Steve Clayton of Coweta, OK; 2 brothers, Jack Swarer and wife, Velma, of Coweta, OK and Gene Swarer and wife, Jenice, of Beggs, OK: 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Velma Swarer, Anna Mae Jones and Barbara York; 1 brother-in-law, Elmer Clayton; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Viewing will be from 4 PM - 8 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Graveside services celebrating Dorothy's life will be at 2 PM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating.
