Services celebrating the life of Donnie "Don" Joe Kerr will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Bob Green officiating. Burial will follow in Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, OK. Viewing will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 and 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Donnie "Don" Joe Kerr, age 80, Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, August 31, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. Don was born the oldest of a set of twins to Tom and Belle Stephens Kerr on June 22, 1938 in Ramona, OK. Don only had a third-grade education because he quit school to help support his family of nine. As a young boy he worked from any of Coweta's local famers and had numerous other employers as a young man, including Pepsi Cola and RC Cola. In 1957, he met and courted, and in 1958 married the love of his life, Hazel (Vanderpool) Kerr. Together they had four children, Johnny, Becky, Russell and Steven. In 1973, Don and Hazel moved their family to their permanent home here in Coweta and Don went to work for McDonnell Douglas. Don worked there until he was forced into medical retirement in 1992. As a young man, Don loved gardening, fishing and hunting, and to play his guitars. In his later years, Don's love for music continued on as he made many friends and "picked guitar" with them in several locations. He also loved to play marbles and cards, but most of all Don loved his family especially his six grandchildren and later his 14 great grandchildren. Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Hazel Kerr of the home, his son Johnny Kerr and wife, Charlotte of Coweta, OK, his daughter Becky Moss and husband, Wade of Coweta, OK and his son Russell Kerr and wife, Lisa of Haskell, OK. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Aaron Moss and wife, Jade, with three children, Victoria, Cara and Xander of Coweta, OK, Ashley Hoffman and husband, Michael, with two children, Taylor and Waylon of Catoosa, OK, Lyn Todd and husband, Buck, with two children, Farren and Haly of Liberty Mounds, OK, Samantha Dickey and husband, Adam, with four children, Courtney, Billy, twins Alyssa and Makenzie of Porter, OK, Mikki Carter and husband, Ted, with one son, Brayden of Coweta, OK and Kyle Kerr and fiancé, Sunny, with two sons, Logan and Tanner of Coweta, OK; one younger brother, Everett "Red" Kerr of Lost City/Hulbert, OK and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Don was preceded in death by one son, Steven Allen Kerr, one great grandson, Michael Adam Dickey, Don's parents, Tom and Belle Kerr, his twin brother, Tom Kerr, two sisters, Lou Ellen Victory and Mary Ann Stafford and two other brothers, Charlie Baker Kerr and Britt Kerr.
