Donna Dean Wood

Donna Dean Wood, age 75, resident of Broken Arrow went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK surrounded by her family. Donna was born on November 29, 1943 in Coweta, OK to Millard Augustus and Opal Estelle (Hughes) Taylor. She was a 1961 graduate of Coweta High School, where she was valedictorian and homecoming queen in 1960. After high school, she attended college where she received her Master's Degree in Psychology. Donna worked at the Ford Glass Plant as an Inspector and Secretary and retired from BlueCross BlueShield as a Sales Representative. She was a member of the Broken Arrow Senior Center and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Donna was an athlete and played basketball, racket ball and tennis. She enjoyed writing poetry, playing cards and Bunco, fishing, singing in choirs, photography and participating in the senior olympics. Donna belonged to several clubs, Cheerleader/pep club, 4-H Club, Future Homemakers of America and the Travel Club at BASI. She always loved to learn new things. Donna loved visiting with people, going to eat with her friends and taking road trips with Kaye and friends. She was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Donna is survived by two children, Shelly Newman and husband, Matthew of Tulsa, OK and Jason Potter of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, Evan Parker Newman, Genna Grace Newman, Kate Elizabeth Potter and Jacquelin Rose Potter; one sister-in-law, Wanda Taylor of Porter, OK; two nephews, Dwight Taylor and Lawrence Taylor; and other relatives and friends. Donna was preceded in death by parents, Millard Augustus and Opal Estellel Taylor and two brothers, Mike Taylor and Raymond Taylor and his wife, Carol. Viewing will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Donna's life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Dan Bair officiating and Pastor D.
