Donna Sue (Chambers) Thornton

Donna Sue Thornton, Coweta resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 75. She was born on December 30, 1947, in Claremore, Oklahoma to her parents, Viola Valeria (Butler) and Arlis Coleman Chambers.

Donna married her love, Allen "Scott" Thornton, Jr. on May 28, 1982, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They shared 41 years together doing the things they loved together and raising a family. Donna cherished the simple pleasures of life. She loved sightseeing with Scott and camping with family.

Most of her professional life was spent working as an Equipment Operator for APAC. When not working, Donna was a homemaker, a role she embraced with passion and creativity. Her flair for floral design and decorating was evident in her home.

Donna leaves behind her children, Jeff Cooley, Pamela Robertson and husband Bruce, Jennifer Kilgore, Margenia Barrie and husband Robin, Crystal West and husband Kevin, and Greg Thornton and wife Nona. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia Treece of Grove. Over the years, her family expanded to include 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen “Scott” Thornton, Jr. who recently passed on August 31, 2023, her parents and her three siblings, Gloria Deanda, Arlis Chambers, Jr., and Richard Lee Chambers.

Donna's zest for life, her love for family, and her creative spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
