Donald Shepherd

Donald Lee Shepherd, age 62, of Kinta, Oklahoma departed this life on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born on December 30, 1947 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to J. L. and Lucille (Lowrey) Shepherd. Donald was a loving companion, father, brother, and grandfather to his family. He received his education in Paoli, Oklahoma. Donald joined the United States Army on October 5, 1967 and was honorably discharged on September 22, 1969. He worked as a self-employed truck driver for 25 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and collecting things. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Donald is lovingly survived by his companion, Mary Mendenhall of Kinta, Oklahoma; one son, Jeremy Shepherd of Quinton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Melissa VanTuyl and her husband, Joe, of Porter, Oklahoma; two brothers, Billy Joe Shepherd of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Jerry Lee Shepherd and his wife, Terry, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Deborah Diana Forbes and her companion, Jeff, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Mary Gist and her husband, Jeff, of Porter, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and three brothers. Funeral services for Donald will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Loyd Willhite officiating.
