Derek Russell

Derek Allen Russell, age 23, of Coweta passed away on Saturday evening, August 20, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK after a tragic accident that happened in Okmulgee County, OK. He was born on April 6, 1988 in Tulsa, OK to his parents, James and Theresa (Higgins) Russell. Derek worked as a handyman for the past several years. He enjoyed four wheeling, hunting and fishing. Derek attended Abundant Rain Ministries in Coweta. He loved and cared very deeply for his mother, his grandparents and his siblings. Derek is lovingly survived by his mother, Theresa Russell of Coweta; his siblings, Lindsay Russell-Hayes and her husband, Shannon, of Coweta, James Russell of Washington, Joshua Russell and his wife, Jessie, of Broken Arrow, Danielle Higgins of Coweta, Jackie Higgins of Coweta and Tana Higgins of Coweta; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Russell of Coweta; his maternal grandparents, Sarah Higgins of Coweta and Richard Higgins of Phoenix, AZ; his uncle, Jimmy Higgins and his wife, Melissa; his girlfriend and the love of his life, Chelsea; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Derek was preceded in death by his father, James Russell and his sister, Jamie Higgins. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Abundant Rain Ministries in Coweta, OK with Pastor Ron Spradlin officiating.
