Delburn Harris of Tulsa, OK, age 77, passed away Saturday evening, October 29, 2011 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home. Delburn was the first child born to Heroline Striplen and Walter Harris in Coweta, Okla. Preceding him in death were his parents, maternal grandma Fannie and Aunt Ilene, all of which were instrumental in his early rearing. Delburn received his early schooling in Coweta. While in his late teens he left Coweta and eventually settled in Tulsa, where he remained until his death. He was a self made skilled mechanic who got valuable on the job training while working for John Patman. He worked there for many years, later he opened his own shop for a while. Cowboy loved motorcycles, fishing and cars. That's why he learned all he could about all of his loves. Delburn loved people and had a crisp "ear catching" laugh. He also loved music and liked to sing. He leaves behind to mourn his significant other, Laverne; his brothers, Tommy Harris of Coweta and Jesse Edwards and wife, Jerry, of Coweta; his sister, Susan Harris Petty and husband, Leon, of Abilene, TX. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and lots of old long-life friends. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. Vernell Bell officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Washington Cemetery in Coweta.
