David "Runt" Owens

David "Runt" Owens, age 72, longtime Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, March 23, 2019 at his home in Coweta, OK surrounded by his family. David was born on December 6, 1946 in Wagoner, OK and was the son of James Clifford and Elsie Mable (Thurman) Owens. He received his education at Okay schools. David married the love of his life, Sandra N. "Sandy" (Blair) Owens on March 27, 1964 in Coweta, OK and together they had 3 daughters, Debbie, Melinda and Sandra. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Chandler Materials Company in Tulsa for 47 years until he retired in 2011. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior three weeks before he passed away and was attending Crosspoint Baptist Church. David was very involved with the 4-H and FFA chapters. He was an honorary member of the FFA and the Wagoner County Junior Livestock Club. David was an avid high school football and basketball fan. He enjoyed coaching basketball and softball, team roping, going to the PBR and he loved spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife, Sandy Owens of the home in Coweta, OK; 3 daughters, Debbie Thomas and husband, Monte of Coweta, OK, Melinda Pitcock and husband, Bobby of Coweta, OK and Sandra Brooks of Coweta, OK; 6 grandchildren, Chase Thomas and wife, Kari, Justin Thomas and wife, Marci, Kent Pitcock and wife, Valerie, Bobby Allen Pitcock, Chance Brooks and Courtney Griffith and husband, Ethan; 14 grandchildren, Peyton Thomas, Brooklynn Thomas, Ava Thomas, Kynzie Thomas, Bristol Thomas, Ryett Thomas, Josie Thomas, Vivan Thomas, Tyler Pitcock, Michael Pitcock, Sawyer Pitcock, Annabelle Pitcock, Tylee Griffith and Rylie Keener; 1 granddaughter on the way, Rylee Griffith; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, James Clifford and Elsie Mable Owens; 1 brother, James Owens; his grandmother, Pearl "Granny Wig" Thurman; and 1 nephew, James Owens. Viewing will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Graveside services celebrating David's life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, OK with Pastor Brett Wheeler officiating. Pallbearers are Chase Thomas, Kent Pitcock, Justin Thomas, Bobby Allen Pitcock, Chance Brooks and Ethan Griffith. Honorary Pallbearers are Monte Thomas, Bobby Pitcock, Merle Peck and Donna Young.
