Darrell Leroy Renfro

Darrell Leroy Renfro, age 92, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Franciscan Villa Nursing Home in Broken Arrow, OK.  He had only been residing there for 6 months.  He had been living independently in Coweta, OK for the past 10 years.

Darrell Leroy Renfro was born on April 7, 1930 in Bedford, IA to Joseph Leroy Renfro and Ruby Nelle Fine Renfro.  He had two younger brothers, Robert Paul Renfro and Charles Edward Renfro.

He married Doris Nadine Crawford on May 28, 1949.  He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954.  They had three children, Laresa Kaye Renfro, Bryan Leroy Renfro, and Michael Allen Renfro.

Darrell attended college and became a schoolteacher.  They lived in Iowa and Missouri.  In 1961 they moved to California, and he taught Math & Industrial Arts in the Garden Grove Unified School District.

Darrell and Doris divorced in the early 70’s.  He retired from teaching.  He lived in California for a time and then moved to Iowa and ended up in Oklahoma, where two of his children still live.  He loved watching Andy Griffith, listening to old country western music on his iPod, playing FreeCell Solitaire on his computer, reading, wood working, and building things from scratch.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul and brother Charles and son-in-law David Roberts.  He is survived by 1 daughter, Laresa Kaye Renfro Roberts of Broken Arrow, OK; 2 sons, Bryan Renfro and wife Shirley of Peyton, CO and Michael Renfro and wife Glenna of Broken Arrow, OK; 7 grandchildren, Cory Roberts and wife Tasha, Candice Kaye Roberts Randolph, Andrew Renfro, Joel Renfro, Sam Renfro, Christopher Renfro, and Kelly Renfro and wife Liza; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler Roberts, Bryan Roberts and wife Avry, Dane Renfro, Destin Renfro, Gavin Rogers, and Kinley Kaye Renfro; and 1 great-great granddaughter, Millie Kaye Roberts.
