Daniel Long

Daniel Long, age 92, of Coweta departed this life on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home. He was born on July 19, 1917 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Daniel E. and Sally Emma (Tittle) Long. Daniel was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. He received his education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School in 1935. Daniel enlisted in the United States Army on February 18, 1941 and was honorably discharged on September 10, 1943. He and Opal Walker were united in marriage on April 11, 1942 in Coweta, Oklahoma. Daniel owned and operated Coweta Plumbing & Electric Company for 28 years. He also owned and operated Long's Laundry for 20 years. Daniel was a member and past commander of the American Legion and also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, hunting, music, playing dominoes and his fiddle. Daniel was preceded in death by parents, his wife, one brother, and three sisters. Daniel is survived by his three sons, Carthel Long and his wife, Carol, Dwight Long, and Leslie Long and his wife, Carla, all of Coweta, Oklahoma; his eight grandchildren, Dwight Long and his wife, Jackie, Jason Long and his wife, Tammy, Jerel Long and his wife, Caney, Ryan Long, Moriah Reynolds and her husband, Coy, Elaina Carmichael and her husband, Bryan, Megan Long, and Andrea Long; his eight great grandchildren, Jerelyn Long, Nick Long, Gracie Long, Lynzee Carmichael, Logan Carmichael, Titus Reynolds, Elise Reynolds, and Luke Long: and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. David Jones officiating.
