Daniel Joseph Bunke, known affectionately as Dan, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, in Coweta, OK at the age of 36 years. He was born on August 23, 1986, in Lockport, NY to George and Deborah (Hansen) Bunke. Dan's life was marked by service, love for his family, and a passion for adventure.
Dan was a proud graduate of Broken Arrow High School in 2005. After graduating, he attended welding school, where he honed his skills and laid the foundation for his future career. His commitment to service was evident when he enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 11, 2007. Dan served his country honorably in Iraq, demonstrating courage and resilience. After his discharge on November 13, 2020, he transitioned into civilian life as an elevator mechanic in Tulsa, where he was respected for his work ethic and expertise.
On April 24, 2021, Dan married Chelsey Jo Timmerman, marking a new chapter in his life filled with love and companionship. Dan was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first. His love for them was evident in his actions and words, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication.
Dan was a man of many interests. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, attending races, and participating in motocross. He found peace in gardening and looked forward to trips to the ocean. His adventurous spirit and zest for life were infectious, inspiring those around him to live fully and passionately.
Dan is survived by his wife, Chelsey Bunke of Coweta, OK; his children, Desiree Bunke, Kaylee Bunke, Gage Bunke, and Presley Lambeth; his father and stepmother, George and Barbara Bunke of Farmington, NM; his mother and stepfather, Debbie and Michael Saladino of Tuscon, AZ; his sister, Sarah Williams and husband Scotty of Broken Arrow, OK; his nieces and nephews, Hunter Williams, Chloe Williams, Kailyn Timmerman, Tracie Sweetin, Breanna Sweetin, Jamie Sweetin, EJ Sweetin, and Jake Sweetin; his mother-in-law, Gayle Sweetin and husband James of Coweta, OK; his father-in-law, Louis Timmerman and wife Staci of Catoosa, OK; his brother-in-law, Cody Timmerman of Coweta, OK; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A service celebrating Dan's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, 15296 State Highway 72, Coweta, OK 74429. Rev. Brody Morris will officiate the service.
