Dana Cheryl Hatfield

Dana Cheryl (Barnes) Hatfield, 64, of Coweta, Okla., passed away peacefully at her home on March 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Haskell, Okla. on August 7, 1950 to Carl Spencer and Norma Jean (Wisdom) Barnes. Dana was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haskell and attended Haskell Public Schools where she was active in their marching band and sports. On August 17, 1971, she married Mark W. Hatfield and they were blessed with 3 wonderful children which they raised in the Choska Bottom area. They were again blessed when their first grandchild was born in December 2014. Dana was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Karla L. Ball; brother-in-law, Sherman "Bud" Newman. Dana is survived by her husband, Mark W. Hatfield of the home; 1 daughter, Shawnda R. Hatfield of Coweta; 2 sons, Mark Kyle Hatfield of Coweta and Ryan Tyler Hatfield and wife, Tara, and 1 grandson, Grant Tyler Hatfield of Haskell; her mother, Norma Jean Barnes; 3 sisters, Nedra Newman of Haskell, Sharon Moss and husband, Roger, of Coweta and Scarlett Sellmeyer of Catoosa; her mother-in-law, Bernice Sewell Hatfield; and she also leaves behind her beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as numerous close friends and a special cousin, Edwin "Junie" Lowthers who was like a brother to her. Dana was truly an incredible person with such a kind and giving heart. Her joys in life were OU football, horses, camping, fishing, cooking for her loved one's, taking trips with her family and mother and sisters. But, most of all Dana loved her husband, kids and family. She was a ray of sunshine; a breath of fresh air and she will remain forever in our hearts. Viewing will be from 2 PM - 8 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 and 9 AM - 8 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 with the family greeting friends from 6 PM - 8 PM on Wednesday. Funeral services celebrating Dana's life will be at 10 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Okla with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, Okla. Pallbearers are Dennis Hatfield, Rodney Hatfield, Lyndell Jamison, Junie Lowther, Roger Graves and Ronnie Deaton. Honorary Pallbearers are Mark Day, Jason Chrisman, Doug Hawks, Melvin Cheatham, Mike Stone, Matt Holmes, Kyle Bibb, Chad Watkins and Bob Craig.
