Corrine "Corkie" Schmidt, 87, of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away peacefully at
her home on Friday, March 18, 2016. She was born on September 22, 1928, in
Pittsburg, KS, to Everett and Jean (Kinney) Pugh.
Corkie was united in marriage with Raynard "Smitty" Schmidt on July 9, 1950. Committed to reaching out in love through adoption, a son and a daughter soon joined their family. She was Southern Baptist by faith, enjoyed bowling, was an avid reader, and a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi International Women's Association. Corkie's family was most important to her. She committed her life to caring for her husband and two children.
Survivors include son, Dan Schmidt and wife Jean of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, Pam Boyd and husband Kevin of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, of Oklahoma City. April Kelley, Daniel Schmidt, Ray Greene, April Greene, all of the Kansas City area; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Wilson and husband Warren "Hank," of Savanah GA. Corkie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Smitty; and sister, Celestia Hines.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Meyers Funeral Chapel,16000 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Memories of Corkie and condolences for the family may be left at meyersfuneralchapel.com.
IN lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Tulsa, in recognition of the wonderful service they provided our loved one.
