Clifford Leon Hewitt, a lifelong resident of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born on June 19, 1936, in Broken Arrow, OK to Virgil Leon and Oda Lavelle (Foster) Hewitt. Clifford was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a life full of love, laughter, and hard work.
Clifford was a proud graduate of Coweta High School in Coweta, OK. After graduation, he began his career at W&W Asphalt before moving on to John Deere Tractor, where he worked as a truck driver until his retirement. His dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew him.
On June 21, 1971, Clifford married the love of his life, Louise Phyllis Johnson. Clifford was a man of many interests, but he particularly enjoyed tinkering around the barn and telling stories about the old days. His tales were always filled with wisdom and humor, and they will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of hearing them.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Louise Hewitt of Broken Arrow, OK; his daughter, Peggy Cecil (Leonard Schumaker) of Broken Arrow, OK; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Leon and Oda Lavelle (Foster) Hewitt, his daughter, Francis Burt, his son, George Flud, his brothers, Stanley Lee Hewitt and Fred Hervill Hewitt, and his grandson, Thomas Pleasant.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK. A service celebrating Clifford's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK, with Rev. Brody Morris officiating. Clifford will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
