Cleo Smith

Cleo Florence Smith, age 91, of Coweta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, October 20, 2010 at her residence in Coweta, OK surrounded by her loving family members. She was born on January 15, 1919 in Broken Arrow, OK to Everett Lewis and Edith Edna (Holmes) Creek. Cleo was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother to her family. She attended school in Coweta, OK and graduated from high school in 1937. Cleo and Clarence Smith were married October 3, 1938 in Wagoner County and he later preceded her in death. They raised their family in Albuquerque, N.M. While there, she was a curio store keeper with her parents and later became a bookkeeper for Lavaland Block Company. After returning to Coweta in 1970, she was a self-employed bookkeeper for Smith Oil. She was a member of Grace Bible Presbyterian Church. Cleo enjoyed painting, ceramics, gardening and she loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends. Cleo is lovingly survived by her son-in-law, John Barela and wife, Anna Ruth, of Coweta, OK; daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith of Coweta, OK; five grandchildren, Scott Barela and wife, Barb, John Barela II, and wife, Lacy, Corale Dixon and husband, Mark, Steven Smith and wife, Ashley, and Keith Smith and wife, Cassidy, eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, Clarence, Louis and Bobby Gene Smith, one daughter, Sharon Barela, one brother, Ellis Creek and one sister, Lorean Creek. Funeral services for Cleo will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Dr. John Barela officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Family and friends may send condolences to Cleo's family online @ www.wrightfh.net.
