Clarence Junior "Chief" Stites, age 88, was born on September 20, 1928 to Clarence and Opal (Rector) Stites in Tulsa, OK. Chief passed away on Friday morning, September 23, 2016 in Okmulgee, OK. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He and Elizabeth Ann Tipton were united in marriage on April 19, 1947. Chief owned and operated CJ and Son's Roofing in San Jose, CA until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, collecting knives, boxing and he loved spending time with his family. Chief was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jake and AC Stites, 1 sister, Deannie Enright and 2 sons, Mark Stites and Matthew Stites. Chief is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Ann Stites; 6 children, Clarence Wayne Stites and wife, Carolyn of Bakersfield, CA, Rebecca Royall of Roswell, GA, Anna Still and husband, Greg of Nacogdoches, TX, Deborah Fernandez of Okmulgee, OK, John Stites of Okmulgee, OK and Rickey Stites of San Jose, CA; 33 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 2 half sisters, Ellen and Shelia; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing for Chief will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the funeral home. Services celebrating Chief's life will be at 11 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
