Christine Delores (Cope) Madewell

September 18, 1933 — July 21, 2024

Coweta

Christine Delores (Cope) Madewell, a cherished beacon of love and joy, gracefully concluded her beautiful journey on earth on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born to Clarence Dewey Cope and Josie Wanda Vaughn on September 18, 1933, in Heavener, Oklahoma. She brought light and laughter to all who knew her throughout her 90 years.

Christine was a beloved figure in her community, particularly noted for her tireless devotion to her family and her enduring work ethic. Over the course of 58 remarkable years, she warmed the hearts of customers as a restaurant waitress at local favorites, including Duffy's Broken Arrow, Henson's Coweta, and Midway Cafe. Her generous spirit and welcoming smile became a signature of these establishments, leaving an indelible mark on the local dining scene.

Her love extended beyond professional borders into various aspects of her life. A dedicated member of the Coweta Assembly of God Church, Christine’s faith shone brightly, guiding her through life's challenges with steadfast conviction and grace.

Known for her zest for life and impeccable sense of style, Christine took great delight in fashion, makeup, and the beauty of personal expression. She also channeled her love for socializing into a successful 20-year endeavor selling Avon products, bringing together her passion for beauty and her pleasure in being the center of attention.

Above all, her heart belonged to her family. Christine leaves behind her husband, Bob Madewell, to whom she was wed on March 19, 1971. She was the proud matriarch to daughters Donna Christine Houx, Pam Warren, and Melissa Page, and a doting grandmother to Shannon Thumann (Brady), Darrill Christmas II, and Christine Houx; her half siblings, Louise Latham, Eunice Jordan, Velma Swarer, Jenice Swarer, Walter "Sonny" Vaughn, and J.W. (Francis) Vaughn; her brother-in-law, Bob Lewis, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives further enriched the tapestry of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Dewey Cope and Josie Wanda Vaughn, her brother, Earl "Buck" Cope, her half-sister, Laverne Lewis.

Although she has departed from our sight, Christine's warmth will endlessly be felt by those fortunate to have been wrapped in her embrace.
