Charles Donald Reel, Sr., age 87, long-time resident of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Forest Hills Heath Care Center in Broken Arrow, OK. Charles was born on December 25, 1925 in Atkins, AR and was the son of Charles Dual and Willie Lee (Conner) Reel. Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. Charles enlisted in the Navy on December 31, 1942 and was honorably discharged on March 10, 1947. After returning from the Navy, Charles and Norma Jean White were united in marriage on March 23, 1947 in Tulsa, OK and she preceded him in death on July 14, 1995. Charles worked at Rockwell and McDonnell Douglas as a Planner for over 30 years until he retired in 1987. Charles enjoyed watching TU football and basketball and was a season ticket holder for many years. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, fishing and he was a sports fanatic. Charles is lovingly survived by his 2 daughters, Donna Turner and husband, Murl, of Bixby, OK and Barbara Dahlke and husband, Steve, of Coweta, OK; 7 grandchildren, Carma Turner-Gibson, Leslie Askew-Irwin, Tracy A. Reel, Rebekah Askew, John S. Reel, Joshua M. Askew and Mark W. Turner; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Reel, his parents, Dual and Willie Lee Reel, his son, Charles Donald Reel, Jr., 2 brothers and 1 sister. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, April 19, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Charles are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Wright-Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Larry McDonald officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, OK. Pallbearers are Joshua Askew, Mark Turner, Jason Crandle, Doug Gibson, Steve Dahlke and Murl Turner.
