Charles George Barnett, also known as “Charlie”, age 75, resident of Coweta departed this life on Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2021 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Charlie was born on July 27, 1945 and was the son of George Casper and Ernestine (Gist) Barnett. He graduated high school in Tokyo, Japan. Charlie was drafted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1969 – 1971. He married the love of his life, Janet Kay Davis on December 6, 1971 in Okmulgee, OK. Charlie was a salesman for most of his life. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, photography, cooking, watching the Dallas Cowboys and OU football, and he was always smiling and laughing.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Janet Barnett of Coweta, Oklahoma; his four children, Stephanie Scott and husband David of Allen, Texas, Darren Griffin and wife Ann of Leavenworth, Kansas, Jennifer Lam Ho of Tulsa Oklahoma, and Melanie Burbic of Tampa Bay, Florida; his grandchildren, Nick Scott, Nathan Scott, William Griffin, Ethan Griffin and wife Tellisa, Kierstin Bradbury and husband Gavin, Chance Lam Ho and fiancé Briana, Chase Lam Ho, Baylee Luccini, and Bobby Burbic; two great grandsons, Peyton Bradbury and Leighton Lam Ho; his brother, Jeffrey Barnett and wife Donna of Pottsboro, Texas; one sister-in-law, Jane Barnett of Denison, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ernestine Barnett; two sisters, Sharie Hope Daugherty and Reymie Ann Barnett; and one brother, Tommy Barnett.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma. Graveside services celebrating Charlie’s life will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
