Cathleen Marie Nequette, known affectionately by friends and family as Cathy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 67. She was born to James George and Ruth Adair (Moyer) Nequette on May 11, 1957, in Buffalo, New York. Her warmth and generosity impacted everyone she met throughout her life.
Cathy's strong will and positive outlook defined her journey. Despite not pursuing formal education due to her special needs, she thrived in various roles including packaging, assembling, and bringing joy to a local flower shop at the Gateway Foundation. Cathy's work ethic and dedication to her roles at the foundation were sources of great personal pride and inspiration to her colleagues.
Her interests, while simple, reflected her loving nature. Cathy was a friend to many and had a heart that knew no bounds in giving and sharing with others. Her friendly demeanor and innate ability to brighten any room were a testament to her character.
Cathy's memory is cherished by her brother, Michael Nequette and his wife, Cindy; her nephews, Bryan and Jordan Nequette; and her great-niece and nephew, Sophie and Calvin Nequette. She joins her predeceased parents in peace.
Cathy's life story is one of joy and kindness, a narrative woven through her everyday interactions. A generous and friendly soul, Cathy leaves behind a legacy of love and selflessness that will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed but her spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
A memorial service celebrating Cathy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Broken Arrow Church of Christ, located at 505 East Kenosha Steet. Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012. The service will be officiated by Tim Pyles and Scott Keele. Cathy along with her parents will be laid to rest at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
