Carl James Brooks, aged 89, departed this world on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, home. He was born on October 24, 1934, in Bixby, Oklahoma, to parents Howard U. Brooks and Katie Jane (Price) Brooks.
He married the love of his life, Betty Fay Brooks, on February 17, 1961, embarking on a union filled with joy and companionship that lasted for 60 beautiful years until Betty passed in 2021. Together, they raised a family, sowing the seeds of love and integrity in their children.
After bravely serving as a United States Army Veteran in Korea, Carl returned to Oklahoma, where he found both lifelong love and a fulfilling career. Carl’s devotion extended to his work as a machinist and tool and die maker, contributing his craftsmanship to Braden Winch and later Crane Carrier retiring after 26 years. Carl's strong, calloused hands found fulfillment and peace working on his farm, raising cattle and crops, nurturing the land he held dear.
A man of faith and fellowship, Carl was a cherished member of the Lone Star Baptist Church community, where his gentle guidance and wise words left an indelible impact on those who knew him.
Carl’s love of nature was evident in his enthusiasm for camping, fishing, and hunting. He relished his vacations and travels, especially to Branson, Missouri. He loved to road trip, watch the shows, and admire the scenery. He and Betty were known to disappear on daytrips together.
Carl is lovingly remembered by his son, Darrell Brooks and wife Susie; daughter, Sonya Wolfe and husband Clifton; his cherished grandchildren, Chad Brooks, Stephanie Reid and husband Michael, Holly Riddle and husband Andy, Derek Wolfe and wife Rachel, Dustin Wolfe and girlfriend Krista Baze; and great-grandchildren, Anderson Riddle, Rhett Brooks, Winnie Riddle and Hadley Wolfe, who will carry on his legacy of adventure and kindness. Joining him in memory are his parents, beloved wife Betty, son James Brooks, sister Juanita Jones and brother Riley Gene Brooks.
Carl’s departure leaves behind a void that can only be filled by the countless memories he created with those who are proud to have called him family.
