Byrl Lee Taber, age 80, resident of Haskell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Eastgate Village Healthcare Center in Muskogee, OK. Byrl was born on March 20, 1939 in Wagoner, OK and was the son of Huston Henry and Mary Jane (Dorrell) Taber. He married the love of his life, Norma Pearl Rose on February 19, 1960 in Tulsa, OK. Byrl was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He got drafted in the Army on November 8, 1961 and was honorably discharged on November 1, 1963. He worked at Flint Steel Corporation in Tulsa as a steel worker and retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a maintenance worker in Muskogee. Byrl was a member of Central Church of Christ in Haskell. He was an avid OU Sooners football fan and enjoyed spending time on the farm taking care of his cattle. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, going to the grandchildren's ballgames, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Byrl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Taber; one son, Bart Taber and wife Anita of Haskell, OK; one daughter, Stona Jewell and husband Jason of Porum, OK; two sisters, Ruth Dillingham of Tulsa, OK and Francis Foster of Owasso, OK; six grandchildren, Angela Monks, Christi Dotson, Amy North, James Yocham, Brett Taber, and Hannah Taber; four great grandchildren, Afton North, Elizabeth Dotson, Rafe Monks, and Carston North; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Byrl was preceded in death by his parents, Huston Henry and Mary Jane Taber; and six siblings, Jack Taber, Velma Taber, Edith Gaither, Carl "Bud" Taber, Mary Parks, and Irene Parks. Viewing will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Byrl's life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Randy Parks officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are James Yocham, Brett Taber, David Rose, Tom Dillingham, Tony Dillingham, and Jimmy Morris.
