Bryce Don Applegate, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at his home in Coweta, OK, on Thursday, May 9, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1992, in Tulsa, OK to Christopher Lee and Tammy Dee (Gappa) Applegate. Bryce's infectious smile and generous spirit were a blessing to all who knew him throughout his 32 years of life.
Bryce was a proud 2010 graduate of Coweta High School, where he was known for his competitive spirit on the soccer field and his knack for making everyone laugh. He dedicated himself to his work at Jim Norton T-Town Chevrolet, where he was highly regarded for his meticulous attention to detail in the detailing and paint correction department. His colleagues will remember him not only for his exceptional work ethic but also for his ability to turn any task into an opportunity for fun.
Outside of work, Bryce was an avid outdoorsman who found solace in the tranquility of kayaking and the beauty of nature. His love for sports was undeniable, with a particular passion for Oklahoma State University, where he cheered on the Cowboys with fervor.
Bryce's sense of humor was legendary; he was a prankster at heart who loved to give his friends a hard time, always in good spirits and with a twinkle in his eye. His laughter was a gift that will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to experience it.
He is survived by a loving family who will miss him dearly: his parents, Chris and Tammy Applegate of Coweta, OK; his sister, Paige Applegate of Broken Arrow, OK; his brother, Cade Applegate and wife Carlie of Coweta, OK; his adored nephew, Stetson Applegate; his eagerly awaited niece; and his bonus sister, Courtney Shook Gibson. Bryce's paternal grandparents, Leon and Janice Applegate of Sand Springs, OK, will hold him in their hearts, as will his uncles, Randy Applegate and wife Kara, Darin Applegate, Darryl Applegate and wife Tammy, and Darren Gappa; his aunts, Jana Gappa, Jan Chapel, and Sherri Simpson and her husband David; and his faithful dog, Maggie. His extended family of numerous cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends will also feel his absence deeply.
Bryce was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Don Gappa, and maternal grandmother, Carol Gappa; his maternal great grandparents, Floyd and Wanice Durham; his maternal great grandmother, Virginia Durham; and his great aunt and uncle, Opal and Ken Matthews.
Bryce's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will live on in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the laughter that echoes in the hearts of those who loved him.
Services celebrating Bryce's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Community Baptist Church in Coweta, OK. The service will be officiated by Rev. Allen Carson with Pastor Adam Mask assisting. Bryce will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
