Bobby Dean Whitby, Sr., age 67, of Coweta departed this life on Thursday morning, December 16, 2010 at St. John Medical Center in Broken Arrow, OK. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. Bobby was born on December 3, 1943 in Gardner, KS to Leslie Franklin and Naomi Myrtle (Trammell) Whitby. He attended school and graduated from high school in Edgerton, KS. Bobby and Marie Johnson were married on December 30, 1983 in Broken Arrow, OK. He owned and operated World of Marble from 1982 to 1995. He also manufactured cultured marble for 45 years. Bobby was a member of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, the Elks Lodge and the Home Builders Association of Tulsa. He enjoyed doing church work, being with friends and going on missionary trips. Bobby will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Bobby is lovingly survived by his wife, Marie of Coweta, OK; two sons, Bobby D. Whitby, Jr. of Collinsville, OK and Kenneth E. Whitby of Azle, TX; one daughter, Cheryl Denton of Porter, OK; two step-sons, Curtis Beck of Coweta, OK and Michael Beck of Muskogee, OK; two brothers, Don Whitby of Coweta, OK and Darrell Whitby of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister, Beulah Pittman of Springhill, KS; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his step-son, Mo Beck, five sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services for Bobby will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. Wayne Wall and Rev. Billy Creech officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Williams Cemetery in Licking, MO.
