Bobby Tom (Catfish) Bryant

Bobby Tom (Catfish) Bryant, age 81, resident of Coweta, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Bob was born on August 24, 1940 in Albion, Oklahoma to Joseph and Ada Geraldine (Bowles) Bryant.  He attended Talihina High School and graduated in 1959.  He married the love of his life, Ann Leslie Pickard, on November 2nd, 1963 and they were married 55 years until her passing in 2019.  Bob also attended Spartan School of Aeronautics where he graduated in 1963.  He retired in 2002 after 33 years as an Avionics Maintenance Supervisor for American Airlines.  Bob was instrumental in helping establish Green Country Soccer which included the Coweta and Broken Arrow Soccer Clubs.  He served as Youth Commissioner for the Oklahoma Soccer Association from 1976-1978.  He was also a board member of the former Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City and attended church at the Coweta Assembly.  Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, watching OU football, working on cars, traveling, and spending time with his friends at the Koweta Indian Community Center.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and coach who was known for his humor, proud of his Choctaw heritage and a man of faith.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Debra Johnson and her husband John of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his daughter-in-law, Bethany Bryant of Lansing, Michigan; two grandsons, Clint Bryant and Joe Bryant; his sister, Nyokia Ware of Ada, Oklahoma; his brothers, Kenny Bryant and his wife Sarah of Talihina, Oklahoma, Joseph “Buckshot” Bryant of Talihina, Oklahoma, James “Bucky” Bryant and his wife Kathy of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Ray “Squid” Bryant of Talihina, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law, Ray Pickard and his wife Mary of Mary Esther, Florida; two sisters-in-laws, Barbara Ball and her husband Marvin of Bristow, Oklahoma and Linda Cupps and her husband Paul of Glenpool, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Bryant; his son, Robert Bryant; his parents, Joseph and Geraldine Bryant; his sister, Mary Sue Clinton; his brother, Billy Joe Bryant and his wife Carol; his mother-in-law, Eunice Pickard; and his sister-in-law, Yvonne Duvall.

A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Coweta Assembly in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Lee and Pastor Matt Ball officiating.
