Bobbie Eugene North, age 68, of Porter departed this life on Monday, July 28, 2008 at his residence in Porter. Bobbie was born on April 14, 1940 in Duke, Oklahoma to Eugene W. and AmaDean (Alexander) North. He graduated from Central View High School and then attended a community college in Clarendon, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 11, 1963 and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1965. In August 1985, Bobbie and Mary "Chris" Sell were united in marriage in Gore, Oklahoma. Then in 1989, he and Chris moved to Porter, Oklahoma from Mounds, Oklahoma. Bobbie worked as a mechanic at Firestone for 25 years until his retirement in 2002. At the time of his death, he was working at Hercules Tires and had been there for the past 6 years. Bobbie enjoyed spending time out in his yard doing yard work and building things with his own hands. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Left behind to cherish his memories is his wife of 22 years, Mary "Chris" of the home; two sons, Jerry Paul North of Southern Texas and Brendon Eugene North of St. Louis, Missouri, two step-sons, Charles Edward Turner of Porter, Oklahoma and Todd Allen Turner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his mother, AmaDean North of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Jennette Steveson of Tyler, Texas and Bernice Molyneux of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene W. North, one sister, and one step-son. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Porter with Rev. Dale Clayton officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta.
