Bob Geneva, 72, of Coweta, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 21, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, and a great friend to many. Bob was born to Murn Fred and Wilma Irene (Sloan) Geneva on July 29, 1938, on a farm in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. (The farm was located around 81st and Hwy. 51, and it is now home to many businesses including Braum's.) The family moved to a homestead at Lonestar, east of Coweta, in Bob's early years, and they soon established their lifelong, home church membership at First Christian Church in Coweta. He attended Lonestar School for eight years before entering Coweta High School. He graduated from Coweta High School in 1956 and went on to attend Miami Jr. College. After one year, Bob transferred to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he went on to receive his Bachelor's, Master's, and Public School Administration Degrees. Bob Geneva began his career in education in 1960, teaching and coaching junior high students in Coweta. On August 3, 1963, he married Sandra Gail Stringer in Coweta, OK. In 1964, he began teaching for Tulsa Public Schools. His first position was at Remington Elementary teaching elementary P.E. In 1981, he became building principal at Jones Elementary. Jones consolidated with MacArthur Elementary in 1983, and Bob continued as building principal at MacArthur until he retired from education in 1991. Bob was also a rancher and farmer most of his life. He enjoyed the challenges and rewards that came with ranching. It was his true passion. He also enjoyed bird hunting and fishing throughout his life. More than anything, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sandra, of the home; his sons, Bryce Geneva of Coweta, and Brian Geneva and wife, Lillian, of Coweta; his daughter, Christy Breedlove and husband, Micah, of Locust Grove; his sister, Lawanna Curlee of Coweta; 4 grandchildren: Kaycee Geneva, Matthew Breedlove, J.D. Geneva, and Amanda Geneva; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives, and a host of friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis Geneva. Funeral services for Bob will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the First Christian Church in Coweta, Oklahoma, with Pastor Allan Swinson officiating.
