Billy Joe Dixon

September 29, 1958 — June 14, 2024

Haskell

On September 29th, 1958, a baby boy was born to Nathella and Elmer Dixon. They named him Billy Joe Dixon also known as “Billy Boy”. At a very young age, Billy gave his life to Christ at First Baptist Church in Haskell, OK where Billy was baptized by the late Rev. Davis. Later in his journey of life he joined Turning Point Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Jaque Harris of Muskogee, OK.

Billy spent his life having a passion for the rodeo life. He spent most of his nights on the backs of many famous bulls. He also enjoyed sliding off the side of a good horse. He enjoyed bulldogging and he was also a Bronc Rider.

Later in life he spent most of his time watching his nieces, nephews, and grandkids enjoying the rodeo scene from Barrel Racing to Mutton Bustin. Billy was all for it. Billy had nephews who followed his bull riding life and his passion for horses also carried on to them.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Dixon, his brother, Cedric Dixon, his late wife, Katherine Dixon, good friends, Toby Ryder, Cathy Lopez, and his brother-in-law, Ernest Bledsoe.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Nathella Dixon of Haskell, OK, two sons, Deandrew of Kansas and Tyrone Jackson of Muskogee, OK, one daughter, Peggy of Muskogee, OK, his grandkids, Delani, Mia, Billy, Malcolm, and J.J., one brother, Lewis Hopson of Muskogee, OK, five sisters, Debra, Regina, Sheila, Paulette, and Donna Sue, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
