Billie Holmes

Services celebrating the life of Billie Holmes will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. Ed Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Viewing will be from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present to receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Billie Holmes, age 83, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday afternoon, February 26, 2020 at his home in Coweta, OK surrounded by his family. Billie was born July 10, 1936 in Broken Arrow, OK and was the son of William P. "Bill" and Hazel V. (Bailey) Holmes. He attended school at Hidden Valley Schools. Billie met the love of his life, Imogene Hester and they were married on February 4, 1956 in Coweta, OK and they were blessed with six children. He was a welder for many years at Burtek and retired from Pro-Quip. He also worked on oil rigs and farmed for most of his life. He enjoyed his cows, bird hunting, coon hunting, and riding horses. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Billie is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Imogene Holmes of the home in Coweta, OK, 2 sons, Tony Holmes and wife Debbie of Coweta, OK and Gary Holmes and wife Tonda of Coweta, OK; 2 daughters, Rhonda Thompson of Coweta, OK and Cynthia Medlock and husband Jerry of Broken Arrow, OK; 1 sister, Margie Satterfield and husband Norman of Coweta, OK; 3 brothers, Harvey Holmes and wife Pam of Porter, OK, Dennis Holmes and wife Linda of Porter, OK, and Raymond Holmes and wife Karen of Porter, OK; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Billie was preceded in death his parents, William "Bill" and Hazel Holmes; his son, Lonnie Holmes; his daughter, Cheryl Kay Holmes; his grandson, Brian Holmes; two brothers, Onis and Buck Holmes; one sister, Daisy Hewitt; and his son-in-law, Ervin Thompson. Pallbearers are Jeremy Thompson, Billy Holmes, Heath Holmes, Aaron Thompson, Jeff Hitchcock, and Steve Bryan.
