William "Bill" Wayne Osburn, age 74, of Coweta, OK passed away Friday morning, March 15, 2013 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Bill was born on September 18, 1938 in Tulsa, OK and was the son of Paul Edward and Eunice (Iverson) Osburn. Bill was a graduate of Central High School in Tulsa. Bill was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Air National Guard. Bill and Carolyn Lorene Reeves were united in marriage on September 18, 1980 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Bill was the District Fire Department Chief for Tulsa from 1963 to 1988. In 1990, he became the Coweta Fire Department Chief for 5 years until he retired in 1995. Bill served on the Coweta City Council for 8 years and as Mayor of Coweta for 2 years. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coweta. Bill was an avid golfer and he enjoyed being a pilot and scuba diving. Bill will be missed as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Bill is lovingly survived by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn Osburn of the home; his 2 sons, Bill Osburn, Jr. of Tulsa, OK and David Allen Osburn and wife, Lisa, of Tulsa, OK; his brother, Paul Osburn and wife, Sue, of Hot Springs, AR; his sister, Myra Rogers of Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren, Chris Osburn, Candace Scantling, Chase Osburn, Kyle Osburn and Blake Osburn; 2 great grandchildren, Montana Scantling and Emma Scantling; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eunice Osburn and 1 sister, Phyllis Connor. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, March 19, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Bill are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. Guy Langston officiating.
