Betty Gladden

Betty M. Gladden, long-time resident of Coweta, passed away on Friday evening, February 4, 2011 at Forest Hills Health Care Center in Broken Arrow, OK at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 1 day. She was a loving and caring mother, sister and aunt to her family. Betty was born on December 3, 1929 in Bristow, OK to George Marion and Velma (Dodge) Hoover. In 1948, she graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, OK. Betty and Charles H. Gladden, Jr. were married on November 10, 1950 in Tulsa, OK and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2002. In 1973, Betty and Charles moved from Pryor, OK to Coweta, OK where they have made their home for the past 38 years. She worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas for 20 years until she retired in 1986. Betty was a member of the Towne & Country Christian Church in Coweta. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and she was very active in the church. Betty is lovingly survived by her sons, Charles M. Gladden of Tulsa, OK and Danny L. Gladden of Coweta, OK; her brother, Bill Hoover and his wife, Coreane, of Jenks, OK; and two nieces, two nephews and other relatives. Betty was preceded by her husband, Charles H. Gladden, Jr. and her parents, George Marion and Velma Hoover. Funeral services for Betty will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Towne & Country Christian Church in Coweta. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta.
