Bertha May (Bright) Reichel, age 89 of Monongahela, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2020 in the residence of her daughter in Coweta, Oklahoma. She was born May 10, 1931 at home in Valley Inn, Carroll Township, Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Kirschner) Bright. Bertha was a graduate of Monongahela Senior High School class of 1949. She was married on November 18, 1950 to Albert H. Reichel Sr. and as a homemaker, she was a devoted wife caring for the home and raising three children, her two sons Albert Jr and Michael and daughter Michele.
Bertha was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Monongahela. She was a Sunday school teacher, for many years sang in the church choir, co-chaired church funeral dinners and made Baptism Napkins. She co-organized the Grace Lutheran Quilters who for more than 35 years made and sold quilts in order to donate finances to the church and charity organizations. She also sewed very many Lap robes, walker pockets, bibs to be donated to nursing homes and those in need and knitted head caps for preemie babies.
Bertha was talented and skilled in many crafts, with sewing, needle work, crochet and knitting among her favorites. On many occasions she taught others, having been a Cub Scout leader and a 4-H leader for girls, teaching them knitting, sewing and homemaking. Bertha was involved in several organizations. She with her husband, enjoyed Western Style Square dancing and bowling with the Wednesday Senior bowling league.
Bertha was preceded in death by her brothers Harry Bright of Monongahela, George Bright of Monongahela, Bud Bright of Monongahela, Ralph Bright of Export, Charles Bright of Monongahela, and her sister, Mary Alice Rogers of Mountain Home Arkansas. She is survived by her husband, Albert H. Reichel of Monongahela and had celebrated 69 years of marriage. Also surviving are her sons, Albert H. Reichel Jr. of Athens, Alabama, Michael L Reichel of Monongahela and daughter, Michele (Shelly) Reichel Owens of Coweta, Oklahoma, 5 grandsons, Joshua, Derrick, Shaun, Cody, Casey, 2 granddaughters Stephanie and Teresa and 2 great-grandchildren Kenadie and Jack.
Services will be held in Monongahela, Pennsylvania under the care of Marshall Marra Funeral Home. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429, 918-486-5515.
