Bert F. Lawson, age 94, of Coweta, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 at his home. Bert was born on February 22, 1913 in Bloomer, Arkansas to Grover C. and Georgia G. (Munson) Lawson. He and Thelma Marie Bergman were united in marriage on August 20, 1934 in Grove, Oklahoma. Bert worked as a heavy oil operator for Sun Oil Company for 35 years until his retirement in1975. He was also a farmer. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing dominos. Bert is survived by two sons, Robert C. Lawson and his wife, Susan, of Jenks, Oklahoma and Gary W. Lawson and his wife, Phyllis, of Coweta, Oklahoma; eight daughters, Betty L. Brumble of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary E. Scrivner and her husband, Joe, of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Georgia A. Ratliff and her husband, Bill, of Jenks, Oklahoma, Barbara G. Chilcoat and her husband, Don, of Jenks, Oklahoma, Frances M. Mayo of Jenks, Oklahoma, Wilma L. Harrison of Jenks, Oklahoma, Bonnie M. Manus of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Karen S. Wood and her husband, Johnny, of Coweta, Oklahoma; one step-brother, Perry V. McGhee of Jenks, Oklahoma; 31 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, three grandchildren, and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor D. Frank Hughes officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
