Bernice Simmons

Bernice Lucille Simmons, age 84, resident of Hominy, OK passed from this life on Monday morning, August 9, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was born on December 14, 1925 in Oneta, OK to Ancil and Lillian (Keller) Plunk. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family. She received her education in Oneta, OK. Bernice and Raymond Simmons were married on May 24, 1941 in Tempe, AZ. She attended Ascension Church in Skiatook, OK. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, going to the casino, and spending time with her family. Bernice will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Bernice is lovingly survived by her husband, Raymond of the home; her two daughters, Loretta Horine of Hominy, OK and Ronda Campbell and her husband, Tim, of Skiatook, OK; her sister, Coleen Hewitt of Porter, OK; six grandchildren, Patricia Horton, Leslie Horine, Amanda Fitzgerald, Carl "Bubba" Toothman, Tonya Pearce, and Danny Harris; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Tyrone Simmons, Dariel Simmons, and Terry Lee Simmons. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. David Jones officiating.
