Benny Gene Gilbert

Benny Gene Gilbert, age 62, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born on June 4, 1961, in Broken Arrow, OK to Bobby Gene and Phyllis Ann Gilbert.

Benny grew up in the close-knit community of Coweta, OK, where he attended Coweta Public Schools. From a young age, he was known for his friendly demeanor and his willingness to lend a helping hand. Benny's early years were shaped by the values of family and hard work, which he carried with him throughout his life.

For many years, Benny worked alongside his father, Bob and brother, Bobby Lynn at Gilbert Wrecker Service in Coweta. He took great pride in his work and was respected by colleagues and customers alike for his reliability and expertise. Benny's dedication to his family's business was a reflection of his commitment to his community and his love for his hometown.

A man of many interests, Benny found pleasure in the simple things. He enjoyed restoring old cars, watching NASCAR, and watching HGTV.

Benny's life was one of connection and service, not only to his family but also to the broader community. His presence was a source of stability and strength, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving mother, Phyllis Gilbert of Coweta, OK; his brother, Bobby Lynn Gilbert and wife Jennifer of Coweta, OK; his nephew, Jason Gilbert and Linda of Tulsa, OK; his niece, Sarah Hall and husband Cameron of Broken Arrow, OK; and his great-nieces and nephews, Jonah Gilbert, Colton Hall, Enzo Garcia-Pham, and Rylen Hall; his lifelong friend, Jim Howard; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Benny was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene "Bob" Gilbert, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

In his passing, Benny leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and a reminder to cherish every moment. His life was a beautiful journey, and though it has reached its end, the path he walked will continue to guide and inspire those who loved him. Benny will be missed, but the light he brought into the world will shine on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Benny during visitation hours from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta. A graveside service to celebrate Benny's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
