Barbara Jean Brewster-Poplin, age 70, of Broken Arrow went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, May 10, 2009 at Forest Hills Assisted Living Center in Broken Arrow following a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 17, 1938 in Fairview, NJ to Warren and Glorene (Oakes) Brewster. Barbara was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother to her family. She attended school in Tulsa graduating from Will Rogers High School in 1957. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Fine Arts from Rogers State College at the age of 52. Barbara worked in commercial property management and as an accomplished portrait artist. Her hobbies included painting, square dancing, collecting hearts and butterflies. She also enjoyed her work as a children's art instructor, her time as a beloved Nanny, and being with her grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Poplin, one brother, and one sister. Barbara is lovingly survived by one son, Theodore Hurlbutt of Tulsa; three daughters, DeAnn Snell and her husband, Tom, of Naples, FL, Tracey Hendrix of Broken Arrow, and Alyson Hurlbutt of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Maggie Krepps of Tulsa; four grandchildren, Mitchell Boyer, Ashley Boyer, Kayla Hendrix, and Kassi Hendrix; her best friend, Loretta Dorton of Owasso; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow with Chaplain Eldose Joy of Good Shepherd Hospice officiating.
