Anthony Gerard "Tony" Besmer

Anthony Gerard "Tony" Besmer, age 73, resident of Haskell, OK passed away on Sunday morning, August 5, 2018 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK. Tony was born on August 7, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to Lawrence Henry and Mary Catherine (Ambrose) Besmer. He was a graduate of Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, CA. Tony was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army on August 30, 1962 and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1965. Tony married Patricia Jane (Rourke) Besmer on August 28, 1971 in Mountain View, CA. He was a Minister for 30 years and was the Pastor of Community Chapel in Jay, OK for 13 of those years. He retired from the Ministry in 2004. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Henry and Mary Catherine Besmer, 1 son, Jeff Miller, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Tony is survived by his wife, Patty Besmer of Freedom, CA; 5 children, Mike Besmer of Bixby, OK, Steve Besmer of Haskell, OK, Mark Besmer and wife, Crystal of Sand Springs, OK, Katie Bassmann and husband, Jeff of Watsonville, CA and Kelly Estrada and husband, Grant of Watsonville, CA; 3 sisters, Mary Gentes and husband, Joe of Manteca, CA, Jane Besmer of Manteca, CA and Annie Kenny and husband, Joe of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A graveside service with military honors will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK and a memorial service celebrating Tony's life will follow at 2:00 PM at New Bethel Assembly of God in Broken Arrow, OK.
