Anna Colleen Hopping

June 12, 1936 — July 3, 2024

Coweta

Anna Colleen Hopping of Coweta, OK passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was born in Coweta, OK on May 12, 1936, to Colie and Anna (Pense) Kelley. Colleen was 88 years of age and had lived a long and full life.

Colleen grew up in Coweta, OK and graduated from Coweta High School in 1953. Colleen was both band queen and FFA queen in high school. Shortly after graduation, Colleen married the love of her life, Wesley Hopping. For 44 years, Colleen and Wes owned and managed the Green Parrot Café in downtown Coweta. The Green Parrot was known for its excellent food and friendly, small-town atmosphere and it was a busy, busy place. Colleen wasn’t afraid of hard work and many days after working all day at the Green Parrot, Colleen would help her in-laws at their Dairy Boy until 10 or 11 o’clock at night. Colleen loved people, her employees and many customers were like family to her. Upon retiring from the Green Parrot, Colleen spent a few years at the family farm, but she missed her many friends so much that she went to work as a greeter at the Coweta Wal-Mart. She worked there for 12 years, and it was a job that was definitely suited to her personality.

Colleen enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, fishing, rodeos and ropings, watching the PBR on television, and the many pet Boston Terrier Bulldogs she had through the years.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Wesley Hopping of the home, her sons, Hoss Hopping (Helen Richardson) and Joe Hopping and his wife Julie, her grandchildren, Jaclyn, Eli, and Nicksy Hopping, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members, her beloved pet Boston Terrier bulldog, Willow, and her devoted caregiver and friend, Martha Krongager. Colleen leaves behind a multitude of friends she made through the years.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Colie and Anna Kelley, her brothers, Bob, Bill, and Kenneth Kelley and their spouses, her nephew, Tony Kelley, and her niece, Carla Kelley.

Colleen will be greatly missed, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and all that knew her.
