Anitra Lorraine King of Coweta, Oklahoma was born March 8, 1974 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the only child born to the union of Herman Chester King Jr. and Carolyn (Cargyle) King. Her father, Herman Jr., paternal grandparents, Herman Sr. and Mattie King, maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Lorraine Cargyle, aunts, Carol Newell Blaylock, Connie Burns and Marie Thurman, preceded her in death. Anitra received her formal education in the North Kansas City School District at Davidson Elementary, Antioch Middle School and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1992. She attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri from 1994-1996 and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1997. She worked for Unitog in Warrensburg, K & T Switching in Claycomo and MX, Inc. as a data entry/billing clerk and ADT Security in Kansas City as a customer service agent from 1997-1999. In January 2000 she began working for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in the Savings Bond department as a data entry operator. The department was transferred to the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis in April 2005 so Anitra relocated. She left the bank in 2007 and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, ultimately, Coweta to be near her mother. Anitra loved to travel. She visited Mexico and the Bahamas on cruises and traveled to California, Florida, New York, Washington DC and surrounding areas as a child and young adult. She enjoyed collecting and watching movies and reading romance novels. She was shy but once she got to know you, she was a pleasant conversationalist. She had a beautiful and endearing smile so you just had to love her. She leaves to cherish her memory are her mother, Carolyn King and Leonard Horne, her mother's longtime companion, of Coweta, Oklahoma. Three step-sisters, Adrienne Franklin Weatherspoon, Deborah King Hamilton and Stephanie Mitchell, three step-brothers, Herman Anthony King, James Franklin and Aaron Franklin, cherished uncles, Leorn (Carol) King and Eugene Benjamin Cargyle and aunts, Racquel Elise Lyons and Varnessa King Clemmons, close cousins, Shannon (Jenie) Thurman of Northport, Florida, Porcsha Herron of Dallas, Texas, Kelly (King) Allen, Stephanie Lewis, Melinda (James) Jackson, Antwoine Thurman, Thomas Newell and Michael Newell and special thanks and love to cousin Charlessetta Perkins, whose pastor and church provided the setting for this service. A beloved friend since childhood, Susan Ward of West Chester, Pennsylvania and her family, Wendell and Tracy Ward of Kansas City and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service celebrating Anitra's life will be at 11 AM on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Christian Tabernacle Church, 7405 Paseo Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri.
