Alyine M. Walkup

Alyine M. Walkup of Coweta, OK, age 90, a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, December 8, 2013 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home. Alyine was born on December 17, 1922 in Boles, AR and was the daughter of William Iley and Laudra E. (Morgan) Cates. She and Wyatt "Red" Walkup were married on July 3, 1939 in Okemah, OK and he later preceded her in death. Alyine worked at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and she was also a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Coweta Assembly of God. Alyine enjoyed sewing, needlework and spending time with her grandchildren. Alyine is survived by 4 children, Wyatt Walkup, Jr. & wife, Suzanne, of Coweta, OK, Jerry Walkup & wife, Sharon, of Siloam Springs, OK, Bettie Watkins & husband, Don, of Coweta, OK and Sue Hutson & husband, Wendall, of Coweta, OK; 1 brother, Gene Cates & wife, Freda, of Coweta, OK; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Elaine Cates of Greenville, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Alyine was preceded in death by her husband, Wyatt "Red" Walkup, her parents, William Iley and Laudra E. Cates and 2 brothers, Gus Cates and Theodore Cates. Funeral services for Alyine are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Coweta Assembly of God in Coweta, OK with Pastor Steve Lee officiating. A private burial will be held at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Eldon Hutson, Randall Hutson, Bruce Watkins, David Campbell, Gary McCormick and Pete Green. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Walkup, Steve Lucky, Luther Brummett and Trent Green.
